The New Look at Canton's Go-To Donut Shop

There is something incredibly special about working with a local institution. Around here, Mary Ann Donuts isn't just a donut shop—it’s a staple. Established in 1947, they have been serving up comfort, nostalgia, and the best maple creams in town for generations.

So, when they trusted us to take on the remodel of their third location here in Canton, we were absolutely thrilled. Our mission? Honor their incredible 79-year history while completely modernizing the space for the future.

Here is a look behind the scenes of how we brought this vintage-modern vision to life.

Maximizing Space & Behind-the-Counter Storage

A busy donut shop moves fast, especially during the morning rush. The original layout had plenty of charm, but the workflow and storage needed an upgrade to keep up with high-volume days.

We got to work re-engineering the back-of-house and counter workflow. By designing custom, streamlined cabinetry and hidden storage solutions, we cleared the clutter and maximized every square inch. Now, the team has everything they need right at their fingertips, and the overall footprint feels incredibly spacious and efficient.

Out with the Old

Every great remodel involves overcoming a unique architectural challenge. In Canton South, that challenge was a massive, outdated fireplace that sat squarely in the center of the floor plan. While it may have served a purpose decades ago, it had become a major aesthetic mismatch and a waste of prime real estate.

By carefully tearing out this bulky masonry structure, we opened up the entire floor plan. This single decision completely altered the spatial dynamics, paving the way for a bright, continuous, and highly functional layout.

Room for the Whole Community

MaryAnn Donuts has always been a gathering place. We wanted to make sure customers felt invited to sit down, stay a while, and catch up over a coffee.

By smarter utilization of the floor plan, we were able to optimize the flow of the shop without making it feel cramped. We introduced beautiful custom booths and flexible seating options, creating a warm, welcoming environment perfect for early-morning solo readers, families, and old friends meeting up for their daily routine.

The Aesthetic of Modern Vintage

We blended mid-century nostalgia with clean, contemporary design elements. Think:
